Will VB6 Apps Last Forever?

You have to remember that VB in general was very widely used, and VB6 in particular enjoyed an unusually long life cycle as desktop development tools go. Microsoft had inadvertantly created a product with the sort of stability seldom seen outside of mainframe software tools.

Both this popularity and stability meant that community support became fantastic.

I could stand to see "VB6 forever" though I'd probably prefer to see development resume. Ideally this would take the form of a series of evolutionary changes that progressively address known limitations of VB6. Most of these are well known from the accumulated wish list for VB7 (which never materialized of course). A native Win64 VB7 or 8 would be an inspiring thing to see as well.

I won't hold my breath though.
